Drosophila

• Size: 3 to 4 mm long.
• Color: Beige to yellowish brown with red eyes usually bright.
• Other features: Like the housefly, are potential contaminants of food, for their habit of perching on decaying materials and then on food.
• Reproduction: The female lays about 500 eggs in materials found in fermentation. At 9 or 12 days, the new flies emerge.
• Food: Fruits and vegetables rotting or wet with abundant growth of fungi and / or bacteria.
