Orkin Georgia Celebrates 10th Anniversary of Operations in Georgia This Fall

Consumer Service LLC, a company founded by Georgian entrepreneurs, holds the Orkin franchise in Georgia and operates under the name and brand "Orkin Georgia."

Orkin itself is a subsidiary of Rollins, Inc. (NYSE-listed, S&P 500 constituent) and provides pest prevention and control services. The brand is represented in 80 countries and is a global leader in the industry.

For 10 years, Orkin Georgia has operated in our country, establishing itself as a leading company in the field. When it comes to pest and rodent prevention and control, disinfection, the capture and removal of domestic and wild animals, and other specialized technical or sanitary services related to pests, this is the company to turn to.

Georgian entrepreneurs Lado Sakvarelidze and Zviad Tvaradze founded the company in 2015 after an in-depth study of the industry (initially, their senior friend Giorgi Putkaradze was also a partner). In the same year, they entered into a partnership and joint venture agreement with Orkin under an exclusive franchise.

Orkin (www.orkin.com) was founded in the USA in 1901 and has operated in this field for over 120 years. It is an American brand with great tradition and history, serving the private business, residential, governmental, and non-governmental sectors across all continents.

"Both then and now, the Orkin franchise system provides us with appropriately strong partnership through the franchise format. We have a joint operation, but the company is Georgian, and our activities in Georgia are considered among the exemplary ones in Orkin’s global portfolio," says Lado Sakvarelidze, one of the company's founders.

Both founders are also employees of the company, working full-time alongside more than 80 other staff members, focused entirely on Orkin Georgia’s operations.

"During practice or a game in team sports, you always need to be on the field. Similarly, in our business, we are with the team every working day—both in the office and during field visits—spending every working day and hour caring for and serving our clients and customers," says Zviad Tvaradze, one of the company's founders.

Orkin is not the only player in Georgia. Dozens of small, medium, and large companies operate in this field, and competition is appropriately high.ო

"There is another international franchise that recently started operating, which we know well and compete with successfully in the USA and many other countries. Additionally, according to my information, another international franchise and two multinational companies will start operating in the country in the near future. There are also very good local companies. From this competition, we expect further promotion of our activities and further maturation of the industry, which will make it more possible for Orkin to fulfill its primary mission in Georgia: to be an exemplary service company and make its services fully accessible to any business, organization, and family," says Lado Sakvarelidze.

Orkin and its employees appear to have a radical approach toward service quality and results. They believe that high-quality service should not be a privilege only of the West or other developed countries. In this regard, as they say, their activity is more of a movement that makes critical services accessible in Georgia and proves that Georgian business can keep pace with anyone in providing quality service.

Operating under the Orkin franchise name was a strategic decision for the founders, as Orkin is the largest company in North America and one of the largest in the global industry. It stands out for its unprecedented support system (technical support, knowledge, experience, training, field visits to the country, regulations, standards, manuals/guidelines, and more). Nevertheless, the founders acknowledge that in this industry—unlike others such as hotels or fast food—the brand and franchise mean nothing if the people (employees) do not demonstrate proper hard work, attitude, deep expertise, competence, and a tireless effort to achieve results.

"A country where critical and basic commercial-consumer services are available with high quality and at a fair or adequate price is a better place to work and live. Since this is the case, our desire is to participate in making Georgia such a place," states Lado Sakvarelidze.

Orkin has two main service directions:Residential: Serving individuals in residential spaces.Commercial: Covering small, medium, and large businesses and organizations. Many successful restaurants, hotels, clinics, hospitals, food, beverage, and pharmaceutical plants, warehouse and distribution centers, and industrial or critical infrastructure facilities are users of Orkin's services. The organization constantly and regularly invests in staff training (including the founders, who undergo regular training), corporate training, and the improvement of practical skills. This is because the field requires not just technical skills, but deep expertise and competence based on scientific knowledge.

The company's founders say that in the service industry, the largest investment of time and resources is required for training and retraining.Often, pest prevention and control are equated with cleaning or waste removal services; however, these fields must be strictly separated, as they are different industries in terms of content, competence, craft, and specifics.

Zviad Tvaradze adds with a humorous comment: "Imagine, I have even seen a security company providing such services. That is, they protect the building from criminals and crime, and it turns out that pest insects and rodents are also criminals."

Pest prevention and control are connected to public health, food safety, labor and fire safety, and generally ensuring and maintaining a healthy and harmless environment in buildings. The activity requires the use of disciplines such as zoology, biology, entomology, chemistry, engineering, hygiene-sanitation, epidemiology, and other disciplines related to building maintenance.

"We often say that when it comes to pests, a person should consult a doctor, for animals a veterinarian, but for buildings, there is Orkin and its team," says Zviad Tvaradze.

Orkin Georgia is distinguished by a well-structured service model based on organizational resources, which implies the involvement of the entire organization in the full service cycle. The client is served by a technical service specialist, supported by various field, technical, and quality assurance teams, consultants, a customer care call center, a scheduling and notification service, and other CRM tools.

The company's social impact is not limited to providing quality service. Orkin frequently participates in social and various types of volunteer activities, as well as charitable and educational projects. Orkin collaborates with several universities and participates in numerous festivals and exhibitions to raise public awareness of the industry and promote employment.

Since 2018, the company has held an annual event—"Orkin Week"—which includes meetings with existing or potential clients, seminars at universities, and practical discussions. Notably, the event is regularly visited and partially led by Orkin’s Director of International Technical Support, Dr. Ron Harrison, a prominent veteran of the field whose global experience sharing is a vital part of the meetings.
